Salvation Army's
STARLIGHTER DINNER

Jelmar, LLC was recognized at the Starlighter Dinner, which kicks off The Salvation Army's annual Tree of Lights fundraising campaign. Because of Jelmar's donation to the Hurricane Relief fund in 2005 and its generous support and partnership with again this past year, Jelmar received the 2006 corporate award.

The event was held at the Grand Ballroom - Hyatt Regency in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, November 16, 2006. By partnering with The Salvation Army again, Jelmar was able to help provide support for individuals and families who are in need during the holiday season.

This past Holiday season, these donations from caring friends in the Chicago area enabled The Salvation Army to reach out to the community's hungry, homeless, and hopeless, providing:

  • 386,341 meals for hungry people
  • 80,000 nights of safe shelter
  • 153,876 toys for needy children
  • Rehabilitation and recovery programs
  • Counseling and spiritual direction
  • Emergency help for hundreds for families in crisis
  • Disaster relief services

The Salvation Army has recently opened a Community Center in Englewood, which has the 3rd largest crime rate in the city of Chicago. Partners of the Salvation Army have enabled them to be a beckon of light for the families in that community.
